Who can advertise/promote free of charge?
If you are one of the community's charities, not-for-profit clubs, societies, help, good-will or social betterment groups, you can advertise for free in the Town Crier edition that serves your community.
You will not be charged for features about you, nor your news, announcements, wins, recognitions or details of coming events.
This policy applies to the communities covered by the East Grinstead Town Crier and the Horley Town Crier.
Please also note that my goal is to support as much as I can the efforts of local organisations, people and small local businesses to prosper. Therefore I will only accept your submissions if you are based in or specifically belong to the area covered by whichever edition of the magazine you wish to feature in.
To further clarify: you count as local if (a) you live in the area covered by the magazine and/or (b) you have an office, a shop or a market stall within the area covered by the magazine. You count as a small business for our purposes if you have 50 employees or fewer.
All you have to do is submit a writeup about your charity or not-for-profit service covering whatever you want the magazine's readers to know about it. In addition you can provide any contact/website/social media details you would like people to have. A few pictures to attract readers' attention would also be advantageous. Preferably, images should be in PNG or JPEG format although I can be flexible if needed.
Also if you want to announce, say, forthcoming event(s), exhibitions, fundraisers and so forth, send me an image of your banner or poster and I'll display it in the magazine or on the website or both, space permitting.
Please send your submission to the email address of whichever edition you wish to be featured in (see contact)
Other items we will feature free of charge are:
Poetry - submit examples of your poetry and if I feel the poem works in the context of the magazine I'll publish it. I can't guarantee to publish every poem submitted no matter how good they are so if your poem isn't selected, that doesn't mean I didn't like it.
Recipes - the same applies here also.
Humour/satire - and here
Life hacks and health tips - let's help one another by sharing our knowledge and successful actions.
Wild ideas - let's share and discuss creative ideas no matter how wild they seem.
Commended and Recommended - write in and tell us about some business, tradesman, charity, restaurant, public service and so forth that has provided exemplary. praiseworthy service or set a fine example for others to follow. Good works well recognised will help uplift the whole community.
Any and all submissions where published can have, if you wish, the contact/website/social media details of their author.
Can for-profit businesses and services advertise/promote free of charge?
Yes.
If you are a local small or medium-sized business you can have placed free of charge an advertorial about you in one monthly issue of the Town Crier of your area. Such an advertorial can be any length up to 600 words (which amounts to about one full page of free advertising worth £120).
This will enable you to introduce yourself and showcase your talents to the community and the wider world at no cost to you - apart from the time it takes you to compose a writeup for the magazine.
Please also note that my goal is to support as much as I can the efforts of small local businesses to prosper. Therefore, I will only accept your submissions if you (a) you live in the area covered by the magazine and/or (b) you have an office, a shop or a market stall within the area covered by the magazine. If you can provide an interesting/helpful/informative article that will engage readers, I'll publish it free of charge as available space permits.
I may need to edit it on occasion to adjust spelling, grammar and layout but generally speaking such submissions require very little editing. Nevertheless your submission is received on the understanding that I have your permission to make edits as needed.
Please send your submission to the email address of whichever edition you wish to be featured in (see contact)
If you do not wish as yet to take advantage of the free advertorial offer (you can do so at any time) or once you have had your free advertorial, limited advertising space has been made available for you, in which our highly competitive advertising rates apply.
